TIPS FOR BE BODY PAINTING BY BODY ART CENTRAL:
BEFORE BEING PAINTED
1. Cleanse the skin to remove dirt and oils from the body. This ensures that the makeup adheres to the skin.
2. Remove body hair from areas to be painted.
3. Do not apply any lotions sunblock or skin oils before or after to areas being painted; as this will cause the paint to lift off the skin and affect the overall outcome.
4. If you are unable to shower before your makeup is applied 70% Isopropyl Alcohol may be used to remove dirt and oils. However lightly scrubbing the skin in the shower first is always best.
5. Have an idea of how you wish to be painted before the application day. This can be done either by consulting the artist or by creating a look based on the theme or section of the band in which your jumping. A reference photo always helps.
6. Wear clothes you don't mind getting painted.
7. The type of paint used must be either non-toxic water or alcohol based FDA approved body paints. Acrylic and automotive paints should not be used on the body. Alcohol based paints are best because of their waterproof properties.
AFTER BEING PAINTED
1. Set body art with powder or make-up sealant.
TIP: Hairspray is used by many body art professionals as it creates a waterproof layer on makeup. Be sure to apply it to a small section to test first and then apply in a well ventilated area.
2. Keep cool and limit your activity! Although your paint maybe waterproof sweat comes from under the skin and might affect your makeup.
3. Wear loose clothing.
4. Do not shower unless you have to! Long showers should be taken before paint is applied and light short showers after.
5. Do not soap, rub or scrub the paint!
6. After your shower lightly reapply powder.
REMOVAL
1. Water based paints can be easily removed from the body with soap and water.
2. Alcohol based paints take more effort. Apply rubbing alcohol or lotion to remove. Have a soft bristle brush, scrubber or wash cloth handy. A good scrub in the shower will also get the job done.
